A Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is trained and certified to detect, prevent, investigate, and deter fraud and financial crimes.

It’s a professional certification offered by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the world’s largest anti-fraud organization.

How to Become a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Tanzania Chapter (ACFE-T) advises all candidates who wish to sit for the CFE examinations to first register for ACFE-T membership. Members enjoy discounts on both exam fees and study materials during their CFE exam preparation.

CFE Examination Syllabus

The CFE Exam tests your knowledge in four key areas that form the fraud examination body of knowledge
Financial Transactions and Fraud Schemes

Tests your understanding of fraudulent financial transactions in accounting records, auditing theory, fraud schemes, and internal controls to deter fraud.


Investigation

Covers interviewing, taking statements, obtaining public records, tracing illicit transactions, evaluating deception, and report writing.


Fraud Prevention and Deterrence

 Focuses on why people commit fraud and how to prevent it. Topics include crime causation, white-collar crime, occupational fraud, fraud risk assessment, and ACFE’s code of ethics.


Law Related to Fraud

Tests familiarity with the legal aspects of fraud examinations, including criminal and civil law, rules of evidence, and expert witness matters.
